Taco Bell has a new $1 breakfast value menu, and along with that comes new items. The Mini Skillet Bowl is basically a breakfast burrito without the shell, but still pretty good regardless.
The bowl consists of scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, pico de gallo and a warm nacho cheese.
I’ll take each of the elements separately.
The egg was fluffy and mixed really well with the nacho cheese. It is the same flavor that you get from Taco Bell’s breakfast burrito, and is a flavor I like a lot better than egg with shredded cheese. The nacho cheese give the bowl a creamy texture.
The pico de gallo gave the egg a little flavor kick that would have been pretty one dimensional without.
The crispy potatoes were actually cooked perfectly. I have had bad experiences where the potato is too rubbery, but this had that perfect crisp when you bit into it.
Overall, I really liked Mini Skilled Bowl from Taco Bell. It was simple, but delicious. It could have been a little bigger, and ingredients-wise, I’m not sure it is quite worth $1. I would have preferred something else added in. Perhaps a sausage or bacon pieces.
Fast Food Watch Grade: 3.5/5
At 180 calories, this is a healthier option than a breakfast burrito (that’s at around 375). The only way I pick this over a breakfast burrito is if I was looking to cut calories and not eat something with a tortilla shell.
