Earlier this month, Taco Bell released the new Steak Doubledilla (which is also available in chicken) for a limited time.
The new quesadilla is fully loaded with chunks of grilled steak with a melted blend of cheese inside a large, folded flour tortilla. Tortilla chips and salsa are served on the side.
I paid $5.29 for the steak version, while the chicken version was priced at $4.99.
Before ordering the Doubledilla, I wasn’t too crazy about the addition of the chips and salsa. I felt like I was being forced to pay extra for an add-on item I wouldn’t normally order. Overall, I did feel the chips and salsa was a nice addition, however I still feel it was added on to make the $4.99 price a bit more justified.
At first glance, the actual Doubledilla uses the same flour tortillas as the regular burritos, just folded over and grilled. I’m not really sure the definition of “double” when it comes to the steak, but the steak was a little sparse, although a bunch more steak would make the price unworkable.
I thought it tasted great. The Doubledilla is loaded with cheese, which is my favorite part of any quesadilla. The cheese blend has a really nice flavor combination. The steak was a little too chewy, but overall had a great flavor and was nicely cooked. I could have used more steak, but I enjoyed it mainly for the cheese.
The addition of the chips and salsa seemed to work. It felt like it complemented the quesadilla well. I would have preferred some different dipping sauces, and the chips tasted a little too crunchy.

Overall, I liked the taste. There wasn’t anything special, and some people might complain about not having as much steak as they would expect. I didn’t have that problem. I do think the price doesn’t reflect “value” although I do understand the steak is a premium product (although, the Taco Bell Chicken Doubledilla was almost the same price). The extra chips and salsa was a nice add on to make the price more justified, although I think it wasn’t enough.
