Well, that was fast. About a month ago, we mentioned Burger King deciding to drastically reduce the price of their chicken nuggets, selling a 10-pack for only $1.49, in an effort to boost sales against the dollar menus of Taco Bell and McDonald’s. I even saw a commercial for this deal as of this last Monday.
However, it sounds like the cheap nuggets were only temporary. The company has said that the nuggets will return to their regular price of $2.99 in the next few days.
Bloomberg News is reporting that the lack of chicken supplies has lead to a rise in chicken prices lately. This has caused Burger King (as well as other fast food chains that offer chicken) to rethink their chicken pricing strategy.
Despite the temporary deal, Burger King has been happy with the results. According to Burger King CMO Eric Hirschhorn, the deal performed “in line with our expectations.” Their allotted chicken supply earmarked for this deal is almost gone, so you might want to hit up your local BK and fill up on chicken on the cheap for one last time.
